Trigeminal Neuralgia is a cranial nerve disorder that causes excruciating pain in the facial region of sufferers. Its causes are still unkown.

The intense stabbing, electric shock like pain, is considered to be the most painful affliction known to medical science. Events as common as a slight breeze, chewing or laughing may trigger off an attack and a series of shooting pains can follow each other in seconds.

Due to the lack of knowledge of this disorder, many patients maybe misdiagnosed and therefore incorrectly treated, while they suffer helplessly, in isolation and intense pain. It has also been known as 'the suicide' disease due to the large number of sufferers who could simply stand it no longer.
